FAQs for Patients

What does Healthscreen do?
Healthscreen provides services and software to physicians to help them deliver enhanced levels of healthcare to you, the patient.

Your website says that you are dedicated to improving the lives and health of Canadians. How does Healthscreen help me (the patient)?
Healthscreen is dedicated to developing software and services that help physicians provide better healthcare to their patients. We do this by supporting physicians in the delivery of preventive screening and early detection, management of chronic diseases, immunization reminders for children and adults, and software to keep electronic health records.

Who pays for the services Healthscreen provides?
There are several sources of funding for Healthscreen services. In some cases, government provides incentives to physicians, for example for preventive care. For uninsured medical services, such as telephone prescriptions and advice, patients pay their physician.

What about privacy?
No organization takes privacy more seriously than Healthscreen. We regularly review our practices and our Privacy Policy is availably here. Every employee undergoes regular privacy and confidentiality training to ensure that respect for privacy flows through to every level of the company. The Ontario Information and Privacy Commission recently performed an informal review at our request and reported that we have ‘strong safeguards' in place. Our commitment is to always employ best practices.

If my doctor isn't using a Healthscreen service, am I getting the best care possible?
It is difficult for busy physicians to hire all the specially trained people and purchase and operate the complicated systems needed to track the healthcare needs of thousands of patients. Physicians are great at one-to-one care, but most require the services of a company like Healthscreen to provide our enhanced services.
